Both Laura Buruiana and Matei Varga were born in 1980 in Bucharest, Romania. Even though they grew up in the same city, their paths did not cross until they ran into each other during a brief trip in Paris in 1997 and later during their stop-over in Prague on their way back to Romania. Then, finally, between 1999 and 2003, when both of them were enrolled at the National Music University in Bucharest, the two collaborated extensively, playing concerts in Romania and abroad.
