"One Silken Thread"
Commissioned by Bay Chamber Concerts, Thomas Cabaniss' "One Silken Thread" for cello and piano four-hands will be premiered by cellist Jeffrey Ziegler with the husband and wife piano duo Alessio Bax and Lucille Chung at the Bay Chamber Summer Festival on Aug 16 in Rockport, ME. Other works on the program include Russell Platt's Duo for Violin and Cello, and Beethoven's Piano Trio Op. 97 "Archduke". A commission for the 2014 Verbier Festival, Edward Nesbit's "To Dance on Sands" for eight cellos will be premiered by Adrian Brendel, Gautier Capuçon, Lionel Cottet, Amanda Forsyth, Clemens Hagen, Mischa Maisky, István Várdai and Kyril Zlotnikov on July 30 at the Verbier Festival in Verbier, Switzerland. The program also includes Villa-Lobos' popular Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 for soprano and eight cellos.
