"One Silken Thread" for cello and piano four-hands

Commissioned by Bay Chamber Concerts, Thomas Cabaniss' "One Silken Thread" for cello and piano four-hands will be premiered by cellist Jeffrey Ziegler with the husband and wife piano duo Alessio Bax and Lucille Chung at the Bay Chamber Summer Festival on Aug 16 in Rockport, ME. "To Dance on Sands"

A commission for the 2014 Verbier Festival, Edward Nesbit's "To Dance on Sands" for eight cellos will be premiered by Adrian Brendel, Gautier Capuçon, Lionel Cottet, Amanda Forsyth, Clemens Hagen, Mischa Maisky, István Várdai and Kyril Zlotnikov on July 30 at the Verbier Festival in Verbier, Switzerland. New solo cello work

Commissioned by the New York Philharmonic, Paola Prestini's "Eight Takes" for solo cello will be premiered by New York Phil cellist Sumire Kudo at the NY PHIL BIENNIAL CONTACT! concert on Tuesday, June 3 at 7:30PM at SubCulture, located at 45 Bleecker Street in New York. Cello concerto "The Zone"

Renowned cellist and Music Director of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, Han-Na Chang (who is making her BBC Proms conducting debut this summer), will conduct the orchestra for the world premiere of Rami Khalifé's cello concerto "The Zone" on Saturday, May 31 with Hassan Moataz El Molla as cello soloist. New work for 12 cellos

Commissioned by the KölnMusik, Peter Eötvös' "Dodici" will receive its world premiere by the 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic at the Kölner Philharmonie this Wednesday, April 2. Commissioned by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Giovanni Sollima's Antidotum Tarantulae Concerto for Two Cellos and Orchestra was premiered by the cellist-composer himself alongside Yo-Yo Ma, with Riccardo Muti conducting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Jan 30 through Feb 1. Winner of the 2013 Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition, Michel van der Aa's cello concerto "Up-close" will be performed in New York by cellist Kaori Yamagami, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and film on Monday October 28th at Lincoln Center's White Light Festival.
